Hold onto your sailor hats, cruise enthusiasts!
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Princess Cruises has just revealed the name of their latest marvel, the Star Princess, set to make its grand debut in August 2025.
If the mere mention of a new Princess ship doesn’t spark joy in your heart, then the sheer scale and innovation of Star Princess surely will.

A star is born
This new darling of the seas is currently being meticulously crafted at the prestigious Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. Designed to be a sister ship to the Sun Princess, the Star Princess is set to be a crowning jewel in the Princess fleet.
Both vessels are massive with a gross tonnage of 175,500 tons, offering enough room to comfortably accommodate 4,300 guests each.
The Star Princess doesn’t simply shine in size; it’s also designed to wow its guests with a wide array of exceptional features. The ship’s unique design combines the familiar Princess charm with innovative, outward-facing views.
Imagine being dazzled by the transformational Dome, a grand entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini. The Piazza, with its awe-inspiring glass sphere. The dynamic Princess Arena, a state-of-the-art theatre, that’s set to stage thrilling and innovative entertainment. As for the dining room, its rear placement allows guests to enjoy unrivalled views of the ship’s wake.
Luxury and comfort
For those seeking a more intimate experience, the Star Princess also shines. It will offer luxurious staterooms and suites as part of the new Reserve and Signature Collections. The expansive Lotus Spa and the grand casino will provide perfect options for relaxation and excitement.
And just like the rest of the Princess fleet, Star Princess will offer the Princess Medallion service, an industry-leading personalized experience that leaves no stone unturned to ensure a memorable voyage.
For the food and beverage enthusiasts, the Star Princess will come packed with an array of exciting new concepts. Headlining the entertainment will be the mesmerizing Cirque Éloize, promising a spectacle like no other.

Sailing towards sustainability
Now, for the part that excites me the most: the Star Princess is not only set to be luxurious and innovative, it’s also sustainably designed. The ship will be powered by LNG fuel technology, proving that luxury and sustainability can indeed sail together.
The Star Princess will first set sail on a nine-day inaugural Italy & Greece roundtrip voyage from Rome, traversing exotic locations like Corfu, Kotor, Mykonos, Santorini, and Naples. The travel itinerary also includes 9 and 10-day cruises sailing from Rome, Athens, or Trieste (Venice). Ticket sales start on June 1, 2023, with the larger Europe 2025 program release.
Princess Cruises has a history of launching ships that revolutionize the cruise experience. The original Star Princess, christened by the legendary actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn, played a pivotal role in shaping the brand. Now, with the launch of the new Star Princess, Princess Cruises is poised to redefine luxury cruising once again.
So, why is this exciting? Because the Star Princess promises to be more than just a cruise ship. It’s a testament to the future of cruising – a future where luxury, innovation, and sustainability sail hand in hand.
