Carnival Cruise Line has notified guests who had booked a cruise on Carnival Liberty that their voyage has been cancelled, due to the ship being chartered.

Carnival Liberty

Many guests had already booked onto the cruise set to depart on 19th October 2025, but the cruise line has now confirmed that the cruise will no longer be going ahead.

We are very sorry to inform you that the ship has been chartered and your cruise has been cancelled… We have a variety of alternatives and are confident you will find another Carnival cruise that is filled with an equal amount of fun.”

Notification sent to guests booked on the cruise

The cruise line is allowing guests to cancel their cruise without any fee, or book a different cruise. If they choose a similar cruise itinerary then their fare will be protected.

There are several limitations on this and guests can’t book onto charter cruises or longer cruises, along with certain key dates, and cruises to Hawaii, Europe or Alaska.

Guests who do choose to rebook on an alternative sailing will be given $100 per person onboard credit to enjoy on their cruise.

Anyone who doesn’t contact Carnival to book an alternative sailing by 29th August 2024 will automatically be refunded.

While it must be extremely frustrating to be told that your cruise is no longer going ahead because a charter takes priority, guests can at least be thankful that the cruise line has been upfront about the reason.

Cruise lines can cancel dates without providing an explanation, so at least the guests know the cause of the cancelled cruise – and they’re being told 14 months before they sail, so many won’t have booked airfare yet if needed.
