Disney has announced that it will offer cruises from Japan year-round onboard a new cruise ship from 2029.

Disney Wish

The company will partner with Oriental Lanc Co. (OLC) for the offering, with OLC operating the ship under the Disney Cruise Line brand.

OLC and Disney already has an established partnership – it’s the company that owns and operates the Tokyo Disney Resort.

The ship will be a sister ship of Disney Wish, and will be constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard. While OLC will be responsible for running the cruises, it will be built with designs from Disney’s own Imagineering team.

“I am sincerely proud that Disney and Oriental Land will be able to work together to create a world-class cruise business in Japan. Oriental Land will use their knowhow from the theme park business to continue pushing boundaries and provide family entertainment cruise experiences filled with inspiration and surprise.”

Yumiko Takano, representative director, chairperson and CEO, Oriental Land

While the ship will be built to be similar to sister ships such as Disney Wish, she will also have modifications to make her suitable for the Japanese market.

No formal dates have been announced yet for the launch of the ship but early 2029 is the anticipated launch date.
