This is amazing news for British cruisers… In summer 2027, Disney Wish will sail from Southampton for the first time.

This ship is completely different to any of the older, smaller Disney ships that have sailed in Europe so far. But if you enjoyed sailing on the Magic, the Dream or the Fantasy, I promise, you will fall in love with the Wish. She really is on another level.

Disney Wish

I’ve just stepped off Disney Wish after my seventh Disney cruise (this one was a press trip) and honestly, she’s my favourite ship in the whole fleet.

Read on and I’ll tell you more about why this ship is like nothing the UK has ever seen. Or if you prefer to watch, take a look at the video below…

Why Disney Wish is so different to previous Disney ships sailing from the UK

Disney cruises from the UK really started to take off in 2021, when cruising restarted and Disney offered short ‘cruises to nowhere’ onboard the Disney Magic.

Since then, Disney has had a ship in the UK every summer, starting with the Magic, and then switching to the Dream and then the Fantasy in more recent years.

I’ve sailed on all of these classic ships, and while I loved them, they’re all a little older, and lacking some of the modern wow-factor of the newest Wish-class ships which have launched since 2022.

Disney Wish Grand Hall

Disney Wish is newer and bigger

Disney Wish feels like a next generation ship because she is one.

Every space feels more immersive. The layout flows better. The staterooms are bright and airy. The public areas feel grand without being overwhelming. And everything just feels more polished.

Compared to older Disney ships, Wish feels more like a floating Disney resort than a traditional cruise ship. She’s all about storytelling, atmosphere and moments that make you stop and say, wow.

Indredible dining options

Like all Disney ships, the Wish has rotational dining, where you eat in one of the three restaurants each night, but with the same servers every day. I absolutely love the three restrurants on the Wish, and I feel that they cater really well for the whole family.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure – An immersive fairytale feast inspired by Frozen, with a theatrical show performed by Anna, Elsa, Olaf and friends.

Worlds of Marvel – A tech-driven dining experience where you become part of an Avengers mission, complete with immersive multimedia and, if you’re lucky, a visit from Spiderman.

1923 – A stylish, elegant restaurant celebrating the golden era of Disney storytelling with classic Hollywood glamour

There’s also the Marceline Market buffet, which feels much larger and with more options than on the other ships. There’s Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods, which again has more options such as pizzas, tacos, burgers, hot dogs and barbecue food.

Unique to the Disney Wish you’ll also find Joyful Sweets, which is an Inside Out themed dessert cafe. It’s an extra charge, but so worth it for a special treat!

Take a look below at everything my husband ate in one day onboard the Disney Wish… It’s impressive!

        Incredible Live Entertainment

Visiting the theatre is the highlight of any Disney cruise. But the shows onboard the Disney Wish are right up there with some of the best I’ve ever seen.

        Disney Wish Threatre

Aladdin is fan-favourite Disney stage show brought to life with incredible special effects, humour, dazzling costumes and a live Genie who steals the show every night.

The Little Mermaid is fresh, modern reimagining of the classic story with stunning visuals, powerful vocals and a more emotional, cinematic feel than the versions on older Disney ships.

Disney Seas the Adventure is an original Disney Cruise Line production that weaves iconic characters into a high-energy, feel-good journey.

        Disney Seas the Adventure

As well as the live shows, Disney Wish has TWO cinemas where you can watch the latest releases as well as the outdoor Funnel Vision screen by the pool.

There’s also live music, comedy and family games shows ar Lune – a two-storey entertainment venue.

Non-Stop Fun For All the Family

All the Disney ships have waterslides, but the Wish-class ships were the first to get the AquaMouse water coaster – Disney’s first-ever attraction at sea.

More than a slide, it’s an immersive ride with show scenes, music, lighting and special effect. It has 760 feet of tubes that take you all around the top deck and over the side of the ship.

        AquaMouse

As well as that, Disney Wish has a whopping ten swimming pools! The popular yellow slide is reimagined as Slide-a-saurus Rex, which is even more fun for kids. And little ones will adore the Toy Story Splash Zone.

        Toy Story Splash Zone

The Hero Zone is a fantastic space where famiies can have fun together. There are so many tables of air hockey and table football, all free of charge to use.

At certain times, families can take part in the Incredi-Games, which is a fun inflatable obstacle course race. At other times, the space transforms into a sports court with all kinds of games.

        Relaxing Adult-Only Areas

For those who enjoy cruising without children, the Disney Wish offers some incredible spots that are exclusively for adults.

        Adult-only bars

Hyperspace Lounge is an adults-only Star Wars themed cocktail lounge with a “window” into space, and drinks that feel like part of the experience, not just a menu

          Hi Jenni
We travel on about 8 cruises a year, kids are 10 and 7, would love to do ‘Disney Wish’ but it’s literally twice the price of other ships. I’ve got Legend of the Seas booked twice in 2027 on 1 week cruises, but a 4 day cruise on Disney Wish is a similar cost! Surely not twice as good as Legend?
          Kind regards
          Don.
