A violent brawl involving at least a dozen cruise passengers has been captured on video at Royal Caribbean’s newly opened Royal Beach Club Paradise Island facility in the Bahamas.

The altercation, which took place at the venue’s Floating Flamingo Pool & Swim Up Bar, required intervention from multiple security personnel and club employees to bring the situation under control. The incident represents the second major physical confrontation involving cruise passengers in Nassau within days, raising questions about guest conduct at popular cruise destinations.

Fight Erupts at Central Pool Area

The altercation unfolded at the south side of the Floating Flamingo Pool & Swim Up Bar, one of the central gathering spots at the Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island.

Video footage posted to Facebook on 9th June shows the fight in full swing, though the exact date of the incident remains unclear. The pool area, known for its colourful arching architecture and brightly coloured chairs and loungers, became the scene of a chaotic physical exchange that lasted over a minute.

The video captures a disturbing scene of physical violence including slaps, pushes, hair pulling, and punches among the participants. Even after some guests fell to the ground during the melee, the fighting continued with those involved showing little sign of stopping voluntarily. Music from a nearby DJ covered most of the verbal exchanges, though guests could clearly be seen yelling at one another throughout the confrontation.

Multiple Guests Involved in Physical Exchange

At least a dozen guests appear in the video footage participating in the physical altercation to varying degrees. Whilst the majority of those actively fighting appear to be women, several men can be seen nearby and involved at the edges of the confrontation.

It remains unclear whether all participants were involved from the initial spark of the incident or if some joined in as tensions escalated and the situation spiralled out of control.

At least three security personnel and several Royal Beach Club employees can be seen in the video attempting to intervene and break up the altercation.

The staff members worked to separate fighting guests and calm the increasingly volatile situation, though their efforts took considerable time to achieve any success. Some other guests also appeared to step in, attempting to restrain their friends or companions from continuing to participate in the scuffle.

The response highlighted the challenges staff face when dealing with violent guest behaviour at resort-style facilities. Despite the presence of security and the intervention of multiple employees, the fight continued for a significant period before order could be restored to the area.

Other Guests Forced to Clear Area

Throughout the disturbing incident, other guests visiting the Royal Beach Club were forced to stay clear of the fighting area for their own safety. The video shows one woman quickly moving her young children away from the altercation.

As the video concludes, the fight appears to have finally calmed, though one voice can be heard saying “Get out of here,” which may have been the person filming or another nearby guest choosing to distance themselves from the spectacle rather than continue observing.

The incident undoubtedly disrupted the experience for numerous other guests at the facility, turning what should have been a relaxing day at a premium beach club into an uncomfortable and potentially frightening situation. The Royal Beach Club Paradise Island opened in late December 2025 as Royal Caribbean’s newest private destination offering, designed to provide guests with an upscale beach experience during calls to Nassau.

Part of Troubling Week in Nassau

This brawl represents the second major violent incident involving cruise passengers in Nassau within a matter of days. Earlier in the week, five cruise guests were arrested after fighting in the cruise port area on Monday, 8th June, with their altercation continuing even after they arrived at the police station.

That earlier fight resulted in property damage and injuries to police officers, demonstrating a troubling pattern of guest misbehaviour in the Bahamian capital.

The timing of these incidents raises concerns about passenger conduct and the challenges faced by both cruise lines and local authorities in maintaining order. Nassau remains one of the most popular cruise destinations in the Caribbean, welcoming hundreds of thousands of passengers annually across multiple cruise lines.

Potential Ship and Guest Identification

Because the exact date of the Royal Beach Club fight remains unknown, it is unclear which Royal Caribbean vessel the involved guests may have been visiting from.

On Tuesday, 9th June, the day the video was posted to social media, Utopia of the Seas was the only Royal Caribbean ship calling at Nassau. However, if the incident occurred on a different date, guests from other Royal Caribbean vessels could have been involved.

Royal Caribbean has not issued any public statement regarding the altercation or identified the specific guests involved. The cruise line typically does not comment publicly on individual guest conduct matters, though internal investigations and disciplinary actions may be underway behind the scenes.

The guests involved in the brawl are clearly in violation of Royal Caribbean’s Guest Health, Safety, and Conduct Policy, which explicitly outlines expectations for passenger behaviour and the consequences for failing to meet those standards.

The policy covers all Royal Caribbean venues, including private destinations such as the Royal Beach Club properties, and all guests agree to abide by these rules when booking a cruise. The fighting captured on video violates multiple provisions of the conduct policy, potentially exposing participants to severe penalties.

Specifically, any “verbally abusive or offensive language directed toward anyone” is prohibited under the policy, whether slurs or profanity are directed at other guests or crew members. Likewise, “inappropriate or abusive behaviour” is explicitly banned, which includes “uninvited physical contact” – legal terminology that encompasses physical fighting. The policy also prohibits “disruptive and discourteous” behaviour, and the brawl certainly qualifies as both disruptive and discourteous to other guests attempting to enjoy their day at the pool facility.

Potential Consequences for Involved Guests

Violations of Royal Caribbean’s conduct policy can lead to a range of serious consequences depending on the severity of the infraction.

Guests found to have breached the policy may face removal of onboard privileges, suspension of loyalty programme benefits, being removed from the ship at the next port of call, or even permanent bans from future Royal Caribbean cruises. Given the severity and public nature of this incident, it is likely that those involved may face the harshest penalties available under the policy.

Additionally, the incident may have been reported to local Bahamian authorities for processing and possible criminal charges.

Physical assault and disorderly conduct can carry legal consequences beyond those imposed by the cruise line, potentially including fines, criminal records, or even jail time depending on local laws and the specific circumstances of the altercation. The combination of cruise line sanctions and potential legal action means that a few minutes of poor judgement could have lasting consequences for those involved in the fight.
