When you book a cruise with P&O Cruises from Southampton, adding on coach travel is a great idea. I’ve taken the P&O coach many times, and it really is the easiest way to get to Southampton for most people – especially if you can get the cruise bus for free as part of your booking!

You may be wondering where P&O coach transfers pick up. To make it easy, here’s a list of all P&O Cruises coach pick-up points…

Scotland

Glasgow

P&O Cruises coaches pick up from Buchanan Street Bus Station in Glasgow City Centre.

Edinburgh

P&O coach transfers are available at Edinburgh Bus Station, St Andrew Square.

North East England

Newcastle

The P&O Cruises coach pick-up point for Newcastle and Sunderland is located at Washington services A1, coach park.

Darlington

Those living near Middlesborough can board a P&O coach at Scotch Corner Services on the A1. Meet in the southbound coach park.

North West England

Carlisle

P&O Cruises transfer services pick up from Premier Inn Carlisle, M6 Jct 44. Meet in the rear car park.

Lancaster

P&O coach transfers depart from Holiday Inn Lancaster, which is right by junction 34 of the M6 motorway.

Blackpool

P&O coach transfers pick up from the Premier Inn at Blackpool Airport.

Preston

The pick-up point for P&O Cruises coaches from Preston is at the petrol station next to the Tickled Trout Hotel at junction 31 of the M6 motorway. You can also park your car at the hotel for a fee.

Bolton

You can board your P&O coach at Premier Inn in Bolton Stadium (formerly known as the Reebok Stadium) by the M61 in Horwich. You can also leave your car here for the duration of your cruise. Just head inside the Premier Inn and for a £20 cash donation to charity, they will give you a parking ticket for your window for as long as you like.

Manchester

For those travelling to Southampton from Manchester, the best place to catch the P&O coach is Knutsford Services.

Liverpool

There’s a P&O coach pick-up point in Liverpool outside the World Museum on William Brown Street.

Warrington

P&O Cruises coaches pick up from Burtonwood Services in Warrington. Although it doesn’t appear on the Intercruises pick up point map, cruisers have assured me that you can book it from here, and it does appear in the drop-down.

Chester

P&O coach transfers depart from the main entrance of the Holiday Inn Chester South, just off Wrexham Road on the A483.

Yorkshire & Humber

Wetherby

You can catch the P&O Cruises coach from Wetherby services at junction 46 of the A1 motorway (northbound).

Leeds

There’s a P&O Cruises pick-up point at Leeds coach station.

Bradford

P&O Cruises coaches are available for boarding at the Interchange coach station in Bradford.

Barnsley

In South Yorkshire, there’s a P&O Cruises coach pick-up point at Wooley Edge Services. Head to the coach park at the exit between junction 38 and 39 of the M1.

Hull

You can join your P&O transfer on Ferensway, outside the old Debenhams and by the train station in Hull city centre.

Grimsby

P&O Cruises coaches pick up outside Grimsby Town Hall.

Doncaster

P&O Cruises coaches depart from Doncaster North Service coach park at junction 5 of the M18 motorway.

How To Book Your Coach

If coach travel is included in your cruise fare as part of P&O Cruises Select Fare, then all you have to do is let P&O Cruises or your travel agent know where you would like to join the coach.

Even if coach travel isn’t included, you can usually add it on for an extra charge, as long as there is space on the coach for you.

The service is called Cruise Connect and it is provided by Intercruises. Visit the Intercruises website to book online or over the phone.

Pick Up Points Aren’t Guaranteed

This page lists all of the possible pickup points, but not every one will be available on every cruise. If you leave it too late to book, there may be no spaces left from your chosen departure point.

In this case, an alternative would be to take the Megabus or National Express.

You may also want to consider a train to Southampton or even a flight, depending on where you live. The easiest way to compare all travel options is to use a comparison site like Omio. This doesn’t include Cruise Connect coaches, but it does have some other options for you to consider.

My Experience

P&O Cruises Cruise Connect coaches are generally very good. The coaches are usually modern and well-equipped with clean toilets and there are sometimes movies shown on the TV.

In my experience, the drivers vary, with some being incredibly friendly and chatty, and some being completely miserable and unhelpful.

The great thing about Cruise Connect coach transfers is that they often go straight to the cruise port with no stops. Of course, the route depends on how many people want to travel from each pick-up point.

And because this is P&O Cruises’ official coach transfer service, you never have to worry about missing your ship. If there’s a delay due to traffic, breakdown or any other reason, you can relax knowing that the ship will wait for you.
