MSC Cruises has officially entered the Alaska cruise market, with MSC Poesia departing Seattle on Monday 11th May for the line’s first-ever sailing in the region.

The newly upgraded ship will operate weekly seven-night cruises from Seattle through September 2026, visiting Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point and Juneau in Alaska, as well as Victoria in Canada. Each itinerary also includes scenic cruising through Endicott Arm, where guests can view Dawes Glacier.

The launch marks a significant expansion for MSC Cruises in North America, with Seattle becoming the ship’s summer homeport for the season.

MSC Poesia will return to Alaska in April 2027, with next year’s sailings already on sale.

New-Look MSC Poesia Begins Alaska Deployment

MSC Poesia has undergone a series of upgrades ahead of her Alaska programme, including the addition of the MSC Yacht Club, the cruise line’s luxury ship-within-a-ship concept.

Other new and enhanced venues include an upgraded MSC Aurea Spa, an MSC Gym powered by Technogym, new workout studios and a Gentleman’s Barber.

The ship has also added two speciality restaurants: Butcher’s Cut, MSC Cruises’ American-style steakhouse, and Kaito Sushi Bar.

For the Alaska season, MSC has introduced a regional food and drink programme, including expanded seafood options, warming drinks and cocktails inspired by the destination.

Entertainment on board includes “Dirty Dancing: In Concert”, live music, comedy, themed parties, family activities, expert talks and workshops linked to Alaska’s wildlife, geography and culture.

Marine Research Partnership On Board

MSC Cruises is also working with marine conservation organisation ORCA during the season. An ORCA-trained Marine Mammal Observer will sail on board during peak whale season to support research, crew training and guest education.

After completing her 2026 Alaska season, MSC Poesia will reposition for Caribbean sailings in winter 2026/2027, before returning to Alaska the following spring. The ship will also offer MSC Grand Voyage sailings via the Panama Canal between Miami and Seattle.

Prices for a seven-night Alaska cruise on MSC Poesia departing Seattle on 20th July 2026 start from £629 per person.
