Cruise add-ons get confusing fast… drinks, WiFi, extras on top of extra

Holland America does things a bit differently.

Instead of stacking upgrades, they bundle everything into one option: the ‘Have It All’ package. Drinks, WiFi, speciality dining, and more… all rolled into a single upgrade.

Sounds simple. And it is.

But here’s the interesting part…

When you break down what you actually get for the price, the value isn’t always as obvious as it first seems.

So is it a smart upgrade… or an easy way to spend more than you need to?

Have It All, Explained

The Have It All package is a simple fare upgrade that you can book on most Holland America Line cruises ((with a few exceptions).

It includes all the essential upgrades that most people could need for their cruise, meaning you can easily sail without spending a penny extra, if that’s your preference.

For £60/$60 per person, per day, you get:

  • Signature Beverage Package – Covering a wide range of drinks
  • Shore Excursion Credit – up to $300 depending on cruise length
  • Speciality Dining – up to 3 meals depending on cruise length
  • Surf WiFi Package

If you are a UK traveller and you pay the £60 rate, you also get:

  • Crew Appreciation (gratuities) included

Have It All Costs Explained

There is a little bit to clear up on the Have It All package costs.

If you’re from the UK then it’ll cost you £60 per person, per night to upgrade to Have It All as long as you book before you cruise.

Doing so nets you all of the perks listed above, including the Crew Appreciation.

Travellers from the US and many other parts of the world will pay $60 per person, per night, which may work out cheaper than the UK price, depending on exchange rates. But crucially, it doesn’t include the Crew Appreciation.

If you wait until you’re onboard, then your only option is to pay an increased rate of $70 per person, per night – and Crew Appreciation won’t be included.

HAL Have it All

Crew Appreciation costs $17 per person, per night for non-suite guests, and $19 per night for suite guests.

For UK travellers, it makes sense to pre-book and pay the Have It All fee of £60 per person per night, even if you think that the $70 onboard price + $17 per night Crew Appreciation fee works out slightly cheaper.

The difference is minimal, and depending on your bank or credit card you might get hit by conversion fees which make paying the onboard price and Crew Appreciation separately actually more expensive.

Trust me, it’s much simpler to pay the £60 per night fee up front!

More Details on What’s Included

Let’s break down exactly what you’re getting included with the package, including any terms and conditions you’ll need to be aware of.

1. Signature Beverage Package

drink on Holland America

With the standard Have It All upgrade, you get a Signature Beverage Package included. This isn’t Holland America’s top-tier drinks package but it does include a wide range of drinks options – anything up to a cost of $12 from the bar (which is most things).

It also includes the beverage service charge, which is handy. If you don’t have a drinks package then you’ll pay an 18% service charge on all drinks you buy from the bars onboard, but drinks included in the package aren’t subject to that.

This means that, as long as you stick to drinks costing $12 or less, you won’t need to pay anything for your drinks onboard.

There are some exclusions – drinks you buy from the onboard shop, from the minibar, from room service or during a visit to RelaxAway, Half Moon CayTM (the cruise line’s award-winning private island) aren’t covered.

There’s also a 15-drink limit per day, which applies to all drinks, not just alcoholic ones like on most cruise lines. Once you reach 15 drinks, you’ll need to start paying for more – including that 18% service charge.

And if you want any drink that costs more than $12 then you’ll only pay the difference – plus the service charge on the difference.

2. Shore Excursion Credit

You’ll be given credit to use specifically on shore excursions as part of the Have It All package. How much you get depends on how long you are sailing for:

  • Cruises of 6-9 nights: $100 per person
  • Cruises of 10-20 nights: $200 per person
  • Cruises of 21+ nights: $300 per person

You can only use this credit on shore excursions though, nothing else and it can’t be withdrawn as cash if you don’t use it.

3. Specialty Dining

Specialty dining is also a perk you’ll enjoy through Have It All, and again the actual amount you get depends on how long your sailing is.

  • Cruises of 6-9 nights: 1 meal
  • Cruises of 10-20 nights: 2 meals
  • Cruises of 21+ nights: 3 meals

But it’s not quite as simple as choosing wherever you want to eat. Firstly, here’s a quick run-down of which ships have each specialty restaurant:

MS NoordamYESYESNoNo
MS WesterdamYESYESNoNo
MS OosterdamYESYESNoNo
MS ZuiderdamYESYESNoNo
MS ZaandamYESYESNoNo
MS VolendamYESYESNoNo

There’s an easy way of splitting it – the ships that have Tamarind, and those that don’t.

If your ship has Tamarind then you get:

  • Cruises of 6-9 nights: 1 meal at any of the four restaurants (not one each!)
  • Cruises of 10-20 nights: 1 meal at either Rudi’s or Pinnacle Grill, and 1 meal at Tamarind or Canaletto
  • Cruises of 21+ nights: 1 meal at Pinnacle Grill, 1 at Tamarind, and 1 at Canaletto

If you ship does not have Tamarind, you get:

  • Cruises of 6-9 nights: 1 meal at Pinnacle Grill or Canaletto (not one each!)
  • Cruises of 10-20 nights: 1 meal at Pinnacle Grill and 1 meal at Canaletto
  • Cruises of 21+ nights: 2 meals at Pinnacle Grill and 1 meal at Canaletto

4. WiFi

HAL wifi packages

As part of “Have It All” you’ll also get the Surf WiFi package for the duration of the cruise.

Like the drinks package, this isn’t the highest tier of internet package offered by the cruise line. But it’s perfectly fine if you’re just planning on checking emails, browsing social media and catching up with news.

If you want to then you can upgrade to the Premium WiFi for the duration of the cruise or even just for a single day. But unless you’re working and have video calls to make and large files to send, you probably won’t need to.

Is ‘Have It All’ Worth It?

It’s not super-easy to put an exact value onto the inclusions for Have It All.

That’s because the Surf WiFi isn’t available to buy separately. It’s only available through the Have It All package.

But here’s what is simple….

If you pay £60 per night, then you’re getting a $51 drinks package and either $17 or $19 per night of Crew Appreciation, depending on your stateroom. That’s already approximately the same price.

And then on top of that, you’re getting free WiFi, at least $100 in shore excursion credit, and at least one free speciality dining meal.

If you were planning on buying a drinks package, then Have It All absolutely makes sense.

And if you’re paying $60 per night as a US guest, then the $51 drinks package is still most of that value. Paying $9 more for WiFi, shore excursion credit and speciality dining is worth it to most people.

Bear in mind that the cheapest WiFi package you can buy outside of Have It All is the Premium WiFi which costs $36 per night.

So is Have It All worth it? If you were planning on buying a drinks package anyway, then absolutely!

And even if you weren’t, but you wanted WiFi access, then it’s probably worth getting it because you’ll only need a few drinks a day to equal the same cost as buying the package.

Have It All Early Booking Bonus

It’s also worth looking out for the Have It All Early Booking Bonus when it’s available.

This is a limited-time promotion on selected sailings, and the exact perks can vary. But typically, you’ll pay the same price as the standard Have It All package and get upgraded benefits.

That can include a Premium WiFi package instead of Surf, an Elite Beverage Package instead of Signature, and sometimes prepaid Crew Appreciation as well.

These offers change regularly and don’t run year-round, but when they do appear, they can add a lot of extra value for the same price.

Cruise Inspiration

So now that you’re probably leaning towards paying for Have It All next time you cruise, where should you sail?

Holland America Line offers itineraries across the globe, from the dramatic fjords of Norway to the sun-soaked coastlines of Australia.

But if there’s one destination where the Have It All package really shines, it’s the Caribbean. With year-round sunshine, short flight times from the UK and US, and dozens of islands to explore, there’s never been a better time to plan a Caribbean escape.

Top Reasons to Cruise the Caribbean with Holland America

Convenience is a big part of the appeal. Holland America offers a wide choice of itineraries, from quick weekend departures to longer 9-day Friday-to-Sunday sailings.

In fact, they feature more 9+ day Caribbean cruises than any other line, giving you the flexibility to choose a trip that fits perfectly around your calendar.

The ships themselves are also ideally sized for the region. You won’t find towering waterparks or go-kart tracks on board, but you will find elegant spaces designed for relaxation, making them perfectly suited to island-hopping.

Almost every 2026–2027 Caribbean itinerary includes a stop at Holland America’s award-winning private island, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay™.

Half Moon Cay

Recently enhanced, it’s a highlight in itself, with powdery sand, turquoise waters and the chance to do everything from horse riding along the beach to simply snoozing under a palm tree.

Shore excursions are another reason to head for the Caribbean. Imagine snorkelling between St. Lucia’s iconic Pitons, enjoying a VIP beach resort day in Cozumel, or exploring the hidden coves of the Bahamas.

With Have It All, you’ll already have shore excursion credit included, so it’s a great way to experience more of the islands without the extra cost.

And of course, food is always part of the journey.

Holland America’s Destination Dining™ programme brings Caribbean flavours on board, with dishes like fresh yellowtail snapper and callaloo made from locally sourced ingredients. It means your culinary adventure doesn’t end when you return to the ship.

With the Caribbean offering so many varied ports of call, and the Have It All package covering your drinks, WiFi, dining and more, it’s hard to think of a better pairing. If you’ve been considering a Caribbean holiday, now really is the perfect time to book.

Final Word

Holland America’s Have It All package really does live up to its name.

For one simple daily rate, you’re covering drinks, dining, WiFi, shore excursions, and – if you’re in the UK – even gratuities. It takes the guesswork (and bill shock) out of your cruise, while still leaving room for flexibility if you want to upgrade further.

Whether you’re a casual cruiser or someone who wants to enjoy the ship without counting every cocktail or cappuccino, this package offers genuine value and it’s really convenient too.

In short: if you were already considering a drinks package, Have It All is almost always the smarter choice.

And even if you weren’t, the added WiFi, dining and shore excursion credit can quickly tip the balance.

All that is far too complicated for me. I’ll stay at home.

I am fed up about reading about drinks packages on different cruise lines,My husband and I like a glass of wine with our dinner but if honest water is fine for me.
My husband likes a beer I like a tonic water, This may sound boring to some people but drink does not bother us, But I am finding if you are not drinkers and don’t buy a drinks package you get penalised in some ways.
We are about to do a second Cruise this year with Cunard each time I have put in for a bid for an up grade but never got one then I read that only people that paid a full fare that includes a drinks package would get priority. Its so unfair it’s now putting me off Cruising they just want money high price excursions, Gratuities ,I just want a nice relaxing holiday
