After a Halloween party on Symphony of the Seas turned sour due to a sprinkler misfire, a second Oasis-class ship for Royal Caribbean has also had an unfortunate soaking.
Guests onboard Harmony of the Seas were caught out when the sprinklers on the onboard Royal Promenade started up during the evening of 16th November.
The ship was returning to Galveston towards the end of the cruise when the incident happened. While no confirmation has been given, some guests have said that they think it may have been caused by smoke from Sorrento’s Pizza, which is situated in the Royal Promenade area.
It apparently took the crew several minutes to disable the sprinklers, by which time the area was soaked.
As a result, all food service in the evening, including room service, was suspended so that the crew could all tackle the clean up of the public areas.
The incident didn’t delay the ship and it was able to complete its itinerary without further issues, hopefully with guests not suffering any damage to their personal belongings.
The fact that a second Oasis-class ship has suffered a sprinkler misfire in three weeks is bizarre. The one on Symphony of the Seas was caused by a fog machine as part of the Halloween party, so the two incidents are completely unrelated.
The sprinklers are of course automatic, and guests are probably at least happy to see just how effective they are, in case there ever was a genuine fire that needed to be extinguished!
