Royal Caribbean International has cancelled several cruises due to adjustments in the dry dock schedule for Brilliance of the Seas.

Brilliance of the Seas

The affected cruises include the transatlantic sailing departing Miami, Florida on 12 April 2025, a 5-night Western Caribbean itinerary from New Orleans scheduled to return on 10 April 2025, and sailings departing on 13 May and 21 May 2025.

The cancellations are due to the need for routine maintenance on the 22-year-old vessel, although Royal Caribbean has said that she will also receive some exciting improvements too.

This is interesting, as the Radiance Class wasn’t included in the cruise line’s original Amplification Schedule before the global shutdown in 2020.

Some cruise experts wondered if the Radiance Class would be allowed to sail under they were unsuitable and then sold on, with the cruise line focussing more on the bigger and newer ships in the fleet.

But the Radiance Class clearly still has life in it for Royal Caribbean – though similar questions still hang over the older and smaller Vision Class.

Royal Caribbean has spoken to guests to offer a selection of alternative cruises if theirs has been cancelled, along with additional compensation in the form of onboard credit or Future Cruise Credit if the alternatives aren’t suitable.

The cruise line hasn’t revealed the specific compensation being offered, as it has stated that amounts vary due to the different types of cruise being cancelled.
