Thousands of Celebrity Cruises passengers were left unsettled on 9th September 2025 after receiving emails wrongly claiming that their future Celebrity Beyond sailings had been heavily altered.

The messages, sent in error, described cancelled port calls, swapped destinations and even hinted at propulsion problems forcing the ship to run at reduced speeds.
The shock for many was immediate, especially as the changes appeared to affect cruises stretching from late 2025 through the end of 2026.
Celebrity Beyond did suffer a major propulsion issue in July, resulting in itinerary adjustments, but repairs were carried out that allowed the ship to safely resume operations.
What confused guests even more was that some of the “original” itineraries listed in the emails did not match the cruises they had actually booked.

Passengers turned to cruise forums and social media to compare notes, with many reporting hours spent on hold with Celebrity in search of clarification.
Some even tried cancelling shore excursions they had arranged independently, worried their ports were no longer on the schedule.
Celebrity Responds
Later that day, Celebrity Cruises acknowledged the error and issued follow-up messages to reassure guests.
The line confirmed that the original itineraries remain in place, although port times may still be adjusted.

This clarification brought relief to many, but also fuelled further speculation that reduced cruising speeds could continue to affect itineraries until the ship’s next scheduled dry dock in November 2026.
Celebrity has already issued itinerary updates for several sailings through July 2026, some citing speed restrictions as the reason for timing changes.
For now, guests can rest easy that the destinations they booked remain unchanged.
But as with all cruises, itineraries can still shift due to port availability, weather or other operational needs.
Why Insurance Matters
It’s always extremely important to have the right insurance in place, and the best time to buy it is as soon as you’ve booked your cruise.
Not only will you then be covered if anything stops you from being able to sail, but you may also be able to cancel your cruise and get more of a refund should there be problems with the ship that you become aware of in advance.
Cruise insurance can also include missed port cover, meaning that if you’re onboard your sailing and the itinerary changes, you may be entitled to compensation – even if you didn’t have any excursions booked, and your ship is able to visit an alternative port instead.
However this only applies if you book dedicated cruise insurance and you make sure you have the extra cover in place for missed ports. Always check when you purchase to see what you’ll be covered for.
