A 16-year-old boy has died on a Royal Caribbean cruise after an apparent fall from one of the ship’s balconies.

The passenger had been cruising on Allure of the Seas, one of the Oasis-class ships for the cruise line, on a weekend cruise that departed on 24th November.
However, early the next morning, the boy fell from his interior balcony, landing in the ship’s Central Park area.
While a call was put out to guests in the early hours to ask for blood donations, the boy could not be saved and tragically passed away at hospital due to his injuries.
“We are saddened to learn of the passing of a guest, and our hearts go out to the family. Out of respect for them, we won’t provide any further comment.”
Official Royal Caribbean statement.
The name of the guest and his family have not been made public, nor have the circumstances around the fall. The cruise line will be conducting an investigation into what happened, as it always does whenever anything like this happens.
Guests falling or jumping from a cruise ship balcony does happen, but it’s rare.
My thoughts go out to the family.
