Norwegian Cruise Line has contacted travel agents and guests to inform them that it has cancelled seven months of cruises on Norwegian Sun.

The cancelled sailings were due to take place between March and November 2025, and include 22 different itineraries, ranging from 7 to 16 nights. Most of the cruises were 9- or 10-night sailings through the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
The cruise line has not given a reason for the cancellations beyond “fleet redeployment”, though no announcement has been made on where the Norwegian Sun will now be sailing.
The number of guests impacted is not clear – the ship has a capacity of almost 2,000 guests at full capacity, but would not have sold out this far in advance. However, many guests do like to book early, so there will likely be a large number of people who have had their plans cancelled.
“As a result of a fleet redeployment, Norwegian Sun’s sailings from March 28, 2025 through and including November 3, 2025 have been canceled… We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
The NCL email sent to booked guests.
Guests are being given a full refund for their cruise, back to their original payment method. Guests will also receive a 10% discount on a future cruise valid between 20th November 2023 and 31st December 2025. The discount is being given as Future Cruise Credit.
This is not the first time that NCL has recently made sweeping cancellations. Recently three months of Norwegian Escape cruises were cancelled between January and March 2025.
But seven months of cancellations is unprecedented – it remains to be seen whether the ship will be redeployed or if there are other plans, such as selling the ship or scrapping her.
