Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that it is rebranding almost 1,000 staterooms across the fleet to be available as solo cabins.
Bookings will open in early October 2023 for the new solo cabins, with sailings from early 2024.
There will be three new cabin categories created – Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview, and Solo Balcony. They will be offered across all 19 of the ships in the NCL fleet – currently, only nine of the ships have any form of solo cabin.
Those nine ships currently offer a Studio Lounge with bar and lounge area for solo travellers, and where available, these will continue to be offered to guests of the new solo cabins.
The cruise line revealed that the decision to expand on solo passenger capacity was due to a surge in bookings across the industry between 2019 and 2022. According to global distribution system Travelport, solo passengers now account for 18% of all cruise bookings worldwide.
NCL has stated that destination and demand will help to determine the solo passenger fares, and that cruisers will “most likely” pay a lower fare than if they were to book a double occupancy room on their own.

We are continuously listening to our guests to deliver the experience they want. After realizing the growing demand of individuals looking to travel on their own, we have now expanded single occupancy staterooms across our fleet.”
