Villa Vie Residences, known for its concept of long-term residential cruising, has announced a major change in its sailing strategy with the launch of a 301-day world cruise called “World Uncharted.”
The new voyage will depart from Barcelona on 2nd November 2027 and conclude in London on 29th August 2028.
This ambitious journey will take guests to 100 destinations across five continents, offering an immersive exploration of the world in just under a year.
The cruise is divided into eight segments, each visiting unique destinations, including Panama City, Elephant Island, Manaus, Cozumel, Miami, St. John, Honningsvag, and finally London.
A Shift in Strategy for Villa Vie Residences
The introduction of World Uncharted is a significant departure from Villa Vie’s initial concept of continuous 3.5-year world cruises.
Instead of an ongoing voyage, the company is now focusing on a more traditional long-duration world cruise model, though still much longer than most world cruises offered in the industry.
Villa Vie Odyssey, the line’s sole vessel, is currently on its first world cruise, which began in October 2024 after multiple delays due to mechanical issues during its renovation.
Despite a capacity of 600 guests, the current voyage launched with only 125 passengers.
Founder Mikael Petterson emphasized the lifestyle aspect of the voyage, stating: “This is not a cruise. It’s a lifestyle.” Guests will have extended port calls of up to five days, allowing for deeper cultural experiences.
Designed for long-term living, Villa Vie Odyssey offers a business centre with high-speed Starlink internet, along with laundry, housekeeping, and all-inclusive dining with beer and wine included at meals.
Villa Vie Residences offers several flexible booking options for guests:
- Full Ownership: Guests can purchase a stateroom outright, starting at $129,000.
- Seasonal Ownership: Offers credits for flexible use, with a $24,999 one-time fee and a $7,999 annual fee.
- Rent a Villa: Short-term rentals at prevailing rates.
- Endless Horizons: Lifetime access to guaranteed cabins, starting at $349,999 per person.
- Endless Horizons Unleashed: A retirement-focused plan, starting at $399,999 for single occupancy.
- Try Before You Buy: A 7-day trial cruise for $1,499 (single) or $1,998 (double).
Villa Vie Odyssey will host an inaugural event at Catalina Island, California, on 18th June 2025, before continuing to Alaska.
