Port Canaveral, the busiest cruise port in the world, has set an all-time passenger record for the 2023 financial year, with 6.8 million cruise passengers passing through.

The impressive figure was announced during the annual ‘State of Port’ event, which was held at the Port Canaveral facility on 8th November 2023.
It’s a huge increase compared to the 2022 figures, where 4.07 million passengers used the port – meaning passenger numbers have grown by over 50%.
13 cruise ships used Port Canaveral as a home port during 2023, including Wonder of the Seas, Mardi Gras and Disney Wish. 906 ship calls were made during the year.
The port also announced record-breaking revenue of $191 million for the year, up from $127 million the year before. Of that $191 million, $158 million came from the cruise operations.
This Port is an economic powerhouse in the state of Florida. Central Florida benefits immensely from our operations, with numerous jobs created, businesses thriving, and increased tourism. We play a crucial role in supporting Florida’s tourism industry.
John Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral
Port Canaveral has only been the busiest cruise port since 2022 – previously, Miami had held the title.
It’s expected that 2024 will be an even bigger year for Port Canaveral too, with 913 ship calls and a changing of the 13 ships calling the port home – 7.3 million cruise passengers are expected.
There are plans to build another terminal at the port, to further expand the capacity, although details are still to be confirmed.
