Celebrity Cruises Cancels Several Sailings

Celebrity Cruises has announced multiple cancellations across three ships in the fleet, affecting guests looking to cruise in 2024 and 2025.

But despite the cancellations taking place far in advance, the cruise line is offering a generous compensation amount to make up for the inconvenience.

Celebrity Apex has had its drydock maintenance window moved from 2024 into 2025, meaning that the following departure dates for cruises on the ship have now been cancelled:

  • 9th November 2024 – 12-night Transatlantic cruise
  • 21st November 2024 – 9-night Caribbean cruise
  • All sailings between 8th March and 26th April 2025 – various Caribbean cruises

Celebrity Constellation has had her deployment altered for 2025, now that she will be sailing from Tampa in Florida.

All cruises from 11th January to 3rd April 2025 have been cancelled, except for one departing 1st March. The sailings will be replaced with new cruises.

And with the changes to ship homeports, Celebrity Equinox has also been affected – her entire season for South America for 2024-25 has been replaced with a Caribbean season.

All guests on the affected cruises are being contacted by the cruise line and offered a full refund. Anyone who used future cruise credit for their booking will have the credit reinstated.

But on top of the refund, Celebrity Cruises is also offering compensation in the form of onboard credit for a future cruise. Guests will get $200 if they’d booked a regular stateroom, or $400 if they’d booked a room in The Retreat.

While it’s always frustrating when cruises are cancelled, at least the cruise line has made these changes with plenty of notice, and is offering guests a little bonus on top of their refund.

    Ours was not cancelled but changed from 12 to 8 days for our Mardi Gras cruise. We were offered the $400 extra and given two weeks to accept. But when I called they could not give me the new pro rated price for the new 8 day itinerary which really left is no option but to cancel. So we really didn’t get any compensation for a future cruise. They had not put the new schedules in place so didn’t even have the option of adding a cruise before or after to extend it from 8 days. The email stated they are trying to make shorter cruises from Tampa to make it more family friendly.
