Princess Cruises has unveiled more than 250 departures across the Americas for its 2028-2029 season, including a return to the Amazon River for the first time since 2014 and a new 64-day voyage around South America.

Crown Princess in the Caribbean from Barbados

The programme will take passengers to destinations ranging from the Caribbean and Mexico to Antarctica, Hawaii and the Panama Canal, with itineraries departing from ports across North and South America.

One of the most significant additions is the reinstatement of Amazon River cruising, which has been absent from the Princess Cruises programme for 14 years. The return forms part of an expanded South America offering that will also feature voyages to Antarctica and Patagonia.

The announcement includes itineraries aboard several ships in the Princess fleet, with sailings ranging from shorter Caribbean holidays to extended journeys visiting multiple regions.

Amazon River Return Headlines South America Programme

Princess Cruises will operate 13 South America departures across 11 itineraries during the 2028-2029 season, using Coral Princess and Majestic Princess.

The programme marks the company’s first return to the Amazon River since Pacific Princess visited the region in 2014.

Select South America itineraries will include scenic cruising along the Amazon River and a scheduled call at Santarém, Brazil, bringing the destination back into the cruise line’s itineraries after more than a decade.

Rio de Janeiro Brazil

Among the newly announced voyages is a 64-day Circle South America itinerary aboard Coral Princess.

The extended sailing will circumnavigate the continent, combining three major cruising regions in a single journey: Antarctica, the Amazon River and the Panama Canal.

The itinerary will provide passengers with an opportunity to experience the contrasting landscapes of South America, from the Antarctic region to the tropical waterways of the Amazon, without booking separate cruises.

Princess Cruises is also continuing its Antarctic programme aboard Majestic Princess, which made its debut in the region during 2026.

The 3,560-guest ship is already scheduled to return to Antarctica during the 2027-2028 season, following an announcement in March 2026.

For 2028-2029, Majestic Princess will offer 17-day Antarctica and Patagonia itineraries alongside 15-day Cape Horn and Glaciers of Patagonia cruises.

These departures will operate from Buenos Aires, Argentina, providing further options for passengers seeking longer South American itineraries.

The inclusion of Antarctica alongside the return of the Amazon River means Princess Cruises will offer voyages covering both the northern and southern extremes of the continent during the same season.

Caribbean, Panama Canal And North American Sailings

Although the Amazon River return is a notable development, the Caribbean will account for a substantial proportion of the newly announced programme.

Princess Cruises has scheduled 141 Caribbean departures, with itineraries ranging from five to 17 days.

Passengers will be able to embark from Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, San Juan, New York and Barbados.

Ports of call will include St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Cozumel, while selected itineraries will also visit private cruise destinations, including Celebration Key, Isla Tropicale and RelaxAway Half Moon Cay.

The range of departure ports and sailing durations will provide options for both shorter Caribbean holidays and longer itineraries exploring multiple islands.

The Panama Canal will also feature prominently in the 2028-2029 programme, with five Princess ships scheduled to operate voyages through the waterway.

Coral Princess, Crown Princess, Island Princess, Ruby Princess and Star Princess will offer Panama Canal itineraries lasting between 16 and 20 days.

The programme includes eight full ocean-to-ocean transits, allowing passengers to travel through the canal between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Elsewhere, Princess Cruises will continue operating Canada and New England voyages aboard Regal Princess and Caribbean Princess.

These itineraries will range from seven to 14 days, with several sailings featuring overnight stays in Quebec.

The cruise line has also added Îles de la Madeleine as a new destination for the season, expanding the selection of Canadian ports included in the programme.

On the Pacific Coast, cruises to Mexico will depart from Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Scheduled destinations include Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo and La Paz.

Some Mexican Riviera itineraries will feature overnight visits to Cabo San Lucas, providing additional time in port compared with a conventional daytime call.

Princess Cruises will also offer sailings to Hawaii and along the California Coast from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver.

Hawaii itineraries will visit the four main islands featured in the programme, with calls at destinations on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island.

Every Hawaii sailing will include an extended stay in Honolulu.

California Coast itineraries will feature destinations including San Diego, San Francisco and Victoria, providing further options for passengers sailing from ports on the western side of North America.

The cruise line said the range of destinations was a central feature of the newly announced programme.

“There is an incredible diversity found across the Americas, and our 2028–2029 season gives guests an extraordinary range of ways to experience it,” said Jim Berra, Princess Cruises Chief Commercial Officer.

Alongside the itinerary announcement, Princess Cruises has introduced an early-booking promotion for the 2028-2029 season.

The offer is scheduled to remain available until 16th February 2027 and includes up to $300 in instant savings, up to $300 in onboard credit and deposits of $100.

The incentives are being offered as the cruise line begins promoting its newly announced departures, including the return of Amazon River cruising and the extended Circle South America itinerary.

For passengers interested in South America, the new programme represents a notable expansion of the available itineraries, particularly with the opportunity to combine Antarctica, the Amazon and the Panama Canal on one voyage.

The return to the Amazon River after 14 years is also one of the clearest changes to Princess Cruises’ destination offering for 2028-2029, bringing back a region that has not featured in its itineraries since 2014.
