Cruise passengers planning mid-2027 voyages aboard Carnival Adventure from Sydney will need to adjust their travel plans, as Carnival Cruise Line has cancelled six sailings scheduled between 17th May and 14th June, 2027.
The affected itineraries ranged from 3 to 9 nights and included sought-after routes to Moreton Island, Vanuatu, and the Great Barrier Reef.
The cruise line cited a “short-term change in itinerary plans” for the 108,865-gross-ton ship but did not provide further details about the reason for the schedule disruption.
Carnival is offering full refunds to all impacted guests and the option to rebook on alternative sailings.
Those who choose to rebook will receive a nominal onboard credit as a goodwill gesture.
For guests on shorter voyages (3rd & 11th June), an onboard credit of AU$25.00 per person (approximately £12 / $16 USD) is being offered, capped at AU$50.00 per stateroom.
For longer cruises, that amount rises to AU$50.00 per person, with a maximum of AU$100.00 per stateroom.
The last confirmed sailing for Carnival Adventure before this pause is a 3-night roundtrip cruise to nowhere departing 14th May 2027.
Unconfirmed Dry Dock or Repositioning
While Carnival has not revealed the exact reason behind the change, some guests have speculated online that the ship may be headed for dry dock in Singapore, possibly for maintenance or upgrades.
These rumours are consistent with past fleet patterns. Sister ship Carnival Encounter, also acquired from P&O Australia, is due to undergo a similar dry dock in 2026.
Despite speculation that Carnival could be reducing its footprint in the region, the line maintains that it is committed to Australian cruising.
In March 2025, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy confirmed ongoing plans to support the region, stating the company is “proud to strengthen its commitment to the millions of Australians who love to cruise.”
A Shift in Australia’s Cruise Landscape
Carnival Adventure joined the Australian fleet in March 2025 after being transferred from P&O Australia, where it previously sailed as Pacific Adventure.
The ship underwent minor refurbishments and rebranding before beginning service under the Carnival banner.
The move followed Carnival Corporation’s retirement of the P&O Australia brand, with ships either absorbed into the wider Carnival Cruise Line fleet or sold off as part of a broader global consolidation strategy.
Currently, Carnival Adventure, Carnival Encounter, and Carnival Splendor are all operating from Australia, offering a variety of short cruises and longer Great Barrier Reef sailings.
Seasonal deployments are supported by Carnival Luminosa, which serves the region during summer months.
At present, Carnival Adventure is still expected to return to service later in June 2027, although revised itineraries have not yet been announced.
