Cruise Tails, the team behind the world’s first dog-friendly cruise, has launched a crowdfunding campaign as it looks to turn its bold idea into a reality.

The campaign, now live on Indiegogo, aims to raise $500,000 to help fund the development of the first-ever cruise designed specifically with dogs in mind – from pet-friendly amenities to dedicated events for canine companions.
The sailing, originally planned for this year, has already been pushed back to 2026, highlighting the scale and complexity of creating a cruise that caters not just to people, but to their pets too.
The new fundraising push is now a key step in keeping the project moving forward.

Cruise Tails is offering a range of reward tiers for supporters, including branded merchandise, the chance to name parts of the ship or themed cruise days, and opportunities to host events.
It’s all part of a wider move to involve the community in shaping what promises to be a unique experience for dog lovers.
The fact that the cruise has been delayed until 2026, and now a crowd-funding campaign has been launched, may raise some eyebrows.
But Cruise Tails is working to overcome obstacles that no other cruise charter has faced before, and not just put on a fantastic experience for guests, but also laying the groundwork for future pet-friendly cruises.
It’s not an understatement to suggest that the dog-friendly cruise could be the first stepping stone onto a complete revolution of how travel companies, cruise lines and other organisations treat guests who have pets in the family.
“Witnessing the growth of the pet-friendly community since our inception has been so rewarding, and I can’t wait to see how these new engagements in action will continue to foster this momentum among our members.”
Cruise Tails Captain Steve Matzke

Alongside the crowdfunding launch, Cruise Tails has also unveiled a new online platform – CruiseTales.com – which will host live and virtual events, updates on the cruise’s progress, and opportunities to support dog rescue charities.
While there’s no denying that raising half a million dollars is a big ask, the Cruise Tails team say they’re more determined than ever to make cruising with dogs a normal part of holiday life.
And if the passion shown by the pet-loving community so far is anything to go by, they have a great chance to pull it off.
